Initially the team fly to Cape Town for final preparation before heading to the Russian Scientific Base, NOVO, in Antarctica. Following ten days and 100 nautical miles of acclimatisation and crevasse training the team fly to the race start line.
Race Leg 1: On arrival all teams spend a night preparing, resting and refuelling for the first leg of the race. Race Leg 1 is approximately 215 nautical miles.
Race Leg 2: On arrival at the mid-way checkpoint all teams resupply for the final race leg and take an enforced 24 hour stop over. Race Leg 2 is approximately 215 nautical miles.
Race Finish: Those teams that successfully complete the race to the geographic South Pole are expected to take between 30 and 45 days - weather conditions dependant!
