Yet perhaps the most famous chapter in this story is that of Scott’s tragic return journey. Upon finding out that they had been beaten to the Pole by Amundsen, Scott and his team began the arduous journey back to their ship, the Terra Nova. Unfortunately Scott and his four comrades never made it back, perishing from a combination of exhaustion, hunger and extreme cold. One of those in Scott’s party was Antarctic explorer Lawrence Oates, who famously walked from his tent into a blizzard with the words ‘I am just going outside and may be some time’.
To mark the 101st anniversary of Scott and Amundsen’s historic expedition we have decided to take part in a televised race to the Geographic South Pole. We have chosen to race as Team Talking2Minds and hope that in the process we can raise significant funding and awareness for the charity Talking2Minds. Talking2Minds is the leading charity in the effective therapeutic treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Both the team and the charity Talking2Minds would like to thank you for taking the time to read about the challenge ahead and if you would like to donate to the team please follow the link below.
Thank you
